the principal characters
THE NAKED HERO
Lewis Macleod is the Naked Hero whom the books are centred around. Wimbledon champion at the age of twenty-one, he shocked the world by announcing he was gay - the only man in the sport ever to do so.
His life has been a struggle, driven for much of it by a single goal - to honour the memory of his father who died when he was twelve.
Lewis is a complex character full of insecurities. But having achieved his ambition of winning Wimbledon, he now has another goal - to find the perfect man to replace the one he lost. Naked Hero is the story of his search
THE PERFECT MAN
Calum Macleod is Lewis's father who tragically died when Lewis was twelve. Apart from the prologue where we get a flavour of the man who will be forever perfect in his son's eyes, Calum is a presence in the book rather than a character. But his presence is there throughout the two books for he has been the driving force in Lewis's life and the man that all others will be compared against.
THE BODY PERFECT ENGLISHMAN
Lee Porter is the personification of the 'out and proud' gay man. A model and manager of a go-go dance troop, he is physically perfect and an internet object of fantasy for Lewis, who stumbled across his website and was mightily taked by what he saw. Now Lee enters Lewis's his life for real when they meet at a party in Sydney.
Lee is also a top class schemer, a player of games, and a notorious stud who has bedded over a thousand men. He gives huge support when Lewis is in trouble, but with Lee there will always be a hidden agenda.
THE AMERICAN IDOL
Scott Taylor is a former champion and World #1. He was also Lewis's boyhood idol. In Melbourne at the Australian Open, he is enlisted to help Lewis with his game, but his interests go way beyond the tennis court.
Scott is bi-sexual, but has always repressed the gay side of his nature, afraid to come out in case it hindered his career. He is retired however, so that reason has now gone. In Lewis he sees an opportunity, but still has fears he must overcome.
THE BIG DOUR SCOTSMAN
Gavin Strang only appears in the second book, but has a major part to play in Lewis's story. A failed reality show contestant with an incredible physique, he is also searching for something meaningful in his life.
In Lewis he might have found it, but this complex and proud man has demons to fight along with an agent who is manipulating him and taking advantage of the honourable streak in his nature.
