It’s a strange encounter – two people who don’t know each other, but have seen and admired each other on a screen of sorts, for Lewis is obviously no stranger to Lee either. Given the situation, with Lewis’s name in the dirt due to a tabloid ‘kiss and tell’ scam, it’s never going to lead to anything immediately. Trust is the problem, along with perception. As Lee points out, he is probably the last person Lewis should be associated with at this point in his life.
And so we have another theme in the book – that of who is right for you – what makes the perfect partner. You might have one idea, but society, friends and family, the media if you’re famous, might all have a different idea. One thing is for sure – few people think that Lee fits the bill, and that
includes Lewis to begin with. On his website Lee has boasted that he has slept with over a thousand men! How could such a promiscuous man settle down with only one? He may have the perfect body, but it will take more than that to make him the perfect partner. A one night stand is as much Lewis can see. If Lee is genuine about his intentions then the Perfect Body Englishman has a mountain to climb. Much of the first book deals with his questionable attempts to do exactly
that.
I will return to Lee Porter in future blogs. He is a complex character that deserves much attention.
Here's a snippet on the first sighting...
“Lewis, are you okay?” enquired Chantal on seeing the shocked expression.
Macleod took a deep breath as he tried to regain a degree of composure – something that didn’t come easy. “Erm... Yeah! Yeah! I’m fine. I was... I was just trying to place him. You say he’s from England, so it’s possible I might have seen him before... maybe, then maybe not.”
“Well he’s certainly seen you before, on the television at least. And he’s taking the opportunity to have another good look at you now, and I’m guessing he likes what he sees. Perhaps it’s fate that you meet so far away from home. Maybe you should go over and talk to him.”
Lewis spluttered a cough. “Talk to him! No! No! Trust me, Chantal! That would be a really bad idea. But I’ll tell you what - I’ve changed my mind. I do want one of the men in white trunks after all... I need another drink!”
